Will Nvidia (NVDA) Stock Be Helped by Launch of AI Computer for Baidu’s Self-Driving Car?

NEW YORK (TheStreet) — Shares of Nvidia  (NVDA)  were lower in mid-morning trading on Tuesday as the Santa Clara, CA-based technology company unveiled a smaller, more efficient artificial intelligence (AI) computer for self-driving cars, which it said will be used in Baidu’s (BIDU) mapping and autonomous vehicle technology.  Nvidia’s single-processor computer, Drive PX 2, will be the AI engine of the China-based Internet search engine company’s self-driving car, Nvidia said in a statement late yesterday.  Baidu and Nvidia announced they would partner on a cloud-based, autonomous vehicle project earlier this month.  The Drive PX 2 can fit in the palm of a hand, uses 10 watts of power and is half the size of the original version released in January, Nvidia noted.  Carmakers have recently struggled to find self-driving technology that’s both…
