Why more companies are ditching new domain names and reverting to .com

Halloween has always been my favorite holiday for a myriad of reasons: trick-or-treats, the candy, the costumes, getting the living daylights scared out of me. Like other kids, I, too, would go around my neighborhood always on the lookout for treats, but wasn’t always sure if I was going to get a treat or a trick. I can see an analogy here as I think of the virtual neighborhood on the Internet, with many businesses going after the new generic top-level domains (gTLDs) thinking that they were offered a treat, only to find out they were being tricked. However, the .com brand still reigns supreme. With more than three decades of brand recognition worldwide, .com is the downtown of the Internet and will remain so for companies of all sizes.…
