HBO’s long-awaited big budget science-fiction series Westworld re-imagines a cult classic about the rise of artificial intelligence. It promises viewers “a dark odyssey” and “the next chapter in the human story”. Will it be this year’s next big hit? The series is based on a 1973 film of the same time, written and directed by Michael Crichton, about a Western-themed amusement park staffed by androids that malfunction and run amok.
