The computer – which named itself Benjamin – was fed a batch of screenplays from movies ranging from Ghostbusters to Alien to – most worryingly – The Matrix and then left to write its own version. It came up with a short screenplay called Sunspring, which artificial intelligence researcher from New York University, Ross Goodwin, and movie director Oscar Sharp then set about filming with a small cast of actors.
