Virginia Tech board backs new neuroscience school

BLACKSBURG — The Virginia Tech Board of visitors unanimously approved a proposal Monday to create a new school of neuroscience that now must go to state officials for approval. University officials already are working on the proposal with the State Council of Higher Education for Virginia, Provost Thanassis Rikakis said after the vote. SCHEV oversees curriculum for public education in the commonwealth. Rikakis said that he anticipates the state review process to be completed in about 12 months.
