Verizon to introduce ‘toll-free’ data

Toll-free calling has been around for decades, so why not do the same for data? The so-called sponsored data, as the term implies, is paid for by a third party. That’s just like when you dial an 800 number – the company you’re dialing pays for the call, not you. For example if a company wanted you to watch its video ads, the carrier/ISP will stream those videos without it eating your data, effectively allowing that company to sponsor the data for its video.
