Toyota’s B Investment In Artificial Intelligence And Robotics Puts It At

The Japanese automaker has decided that two new facilities will be located on United States soil and will be established in the course of five years, both being created to research Artificial Intelligence. Directed by Dr. Gill Pratt, Toyota’s Executive Technical Advisor and the Chief Executive Officer of the new enterprise, TRI will hire leading researchers and engineers to support its wide range of activities. Investment in the research institute will be spread over five years and Toyota said it hopes the centre will “bridge the gap between fundamental research and product development”. He observes that the group started out as a loom manufacturer-now a separate company called Toyota Boshoku (3116.TO)-and says artificial intelligence may lead to new essential technologies.
