Toyota tops up investment into Artificial Intelligence to USD billion

The move underlines the Japanese auto maker’s determination to lead in futuristic vehicles that drive themselves and apply the technology to other areas of daily life. Toyota reaffirmed it will separately invest $50 million over the next 5 years with MIT and Stanford “to establish joint fundamental artificial intelligence research centres at each university”. The new firm, which plans to hire about 200 staff, aims to accelerate research and development in artificial intelligence and big data, the carmaker said.
