The initiative is the automaker’s attempt to become the leader in self-driving cars, which is seen as the future of transportation. Toyota Motor Corp. president Akio Toyoda announced Friday the company is recruiting at least 200 employees to run a research facility at the Stanford University neighborhood. The said facility is reported to be operational by January 2016 together with a second site located near Massachusetts Institute of Technology in Cambridge.
