Toyota invests million at U-M for autonomous driving, robotics and AI research

DETROIT – Toyota is investing $22 million at the University of Michigan to further research of autonomous driving, robotics and artificial intelligence, the Japanese automaker said Wednesday. The investment is part of the Toyota Research Institute, which will provide the initial $22 million over four years as its collaborates on research with U-M faculty and students. In April, Toyota announced the Ann Arbor school would be home to the third such institute. Toyota’s other TRI locations work with MIT in Cambridge, Mass. and Stanford University in California.
