Toyota investing M over five years to establish autonomous auto research

Toyota Motor Corp announced Friday its ambitious plans for a $50 million artificial intelligence and robotics research project in collaboration with the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and Stanford University, to develop intelligent cars instead of self-driving ones. The immediate goal is to make driving safer and reduce traffic casualties and in time, Toyota said, it hopes to improve the quality of life through enhanced mobility and robotics. The company said that it will form joint research centers in both the universities.
