Toyota announces $ 50 million investment into artificial intelligence

Toyota is teaming up with a couple of the top universities in the United States to work on A.I. & robotics which is aimed at speeding up their efforts of developing self-driving cars. Toyota said that they were going to be spending $ 50 million in the next 5 years for establishing joint research centers at Stanford & MIT. Both of the schools have top-tier computer science and engineering programs. The auto industry recruits graduates from both quite heavily as well. Toyota has been lagging behind rivals as far as self-driving cars & hands-free driver assistance is concerned. Tesla, the electric car maker is already in the final stages of testing their semi-automated system for its Model S & will be making it available to customers later in this year.…
