Toyota announces million investment for AI technology with MIT and Stanford University

Japanese automaker Toyota has announced investment of $50 million in an ambitious project with MIT and Stanford University to create two new artificial intelligence research centers. The research centers will work on projects relating to use of artificial intelligence to assist in driving. Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) robotics scientist Gill Pratt will also work on the project. Pratt will be based in Silicon Valley. The project was announced during a conference at the Four Seasons Hotel in East Palo Alto. Toyota, Stanford and MIT teams distinguished their project from self-driving cars by saying that their effort will be ‘human-centric’.
