Telenor names 6 key 2016 trends as digitisation expands

Telenor said its research arm has published the six key global telecoms trends that it has identified for 2016. It said they are customer service co-creation, data for social good, ‘softwarisation’, deep learning, more IoT with LPWA, and a levelling of the playing field. Telenor said customers are increasingly knowledgeable about digital matters, making demands on companies to provide superior digital customer service and be more aligned with the customer’s changing behaviour than ever before. It said telecoms big data will be used more in 2016 to provide tangible help to society, for the purpose of social good. It said networks as software rather than hardware will take off as technologies such as Network Function Virtualisation (NFV) and Software Defined Networking (SDN)  enable new ways of designing and operating networks.…
