Stroke Rehab Robots
Stroke is one of the biggest causes of adult disability in the UK. Medical advances have meant that more people survive strokes but often they are left with movement problems.
Trials are currently underway using robot assisted rehabilitation techniques. These usually involve the participant playing some sort of computer game. The controller they use senses their level of ability and helps when they are finding it difficult. Professor Helen Rodgers is leading one of these trials at Newcastle.
