Start Your Algorithms! Driverless Racing Becomes a Reality This Fall.

Nvidia is going to the races, according to CEO Jen-Hsun Huang, who announced that the company’s GPU technology will be the brains inside the cars competing in the newly-formed RoboRace series. RoboRace, a competition between self-driving electric race cars, will be held in conjunction with the Formula E  international electric racing series. Much like Formula E, RoboRace teams will compete using vehicles which are identical – except for the software and algorithms which sense the car’s surroundings and provide control inputs to its propulsion, braking and steering systems.   The 1st-generation RoboRace cars are expected to make their debut later this year during the 2016-2017 Formula E racing season.
