Singapore launches fellowship to attract world’s best data scientists and technologists

Photo credit: aotaro. Singapore wants to be a “Smart Nation,” and that means using technology to improve the lives of its citizens. To achieve that, it has launched a fellowship in which data scientists, technologists, and engineers from around the world will work in the country for three to six-month stints to improve the government’s services and aid its decision-making. The fellows will work alongside the product and engineering teams from various government agencies, including the Infocomm Development Authority of Singapore (IDA). They can work on projects identified by the government, or propose new ones. Some of the projects that’ve been listed include: An analytics tool to map relationship and financial networks in order to fight fraud.
