Should we fear AI? Google reveals its top five concerns about the future of robots

But a Google research paper suggests our robot friends are more likely to mess up our bedrooms than force us into indentured servitude. ADVERTISEMENT The paper, titled ‘Concrete Problems in AI Safety’ lists five of the safety concerns Google has for the future of robotics. The problems are as follows: – Avoiding negative side effects, or ensuring an AI system will “not disturb its environment in negative ways while pursuing its goals” – Avoiding Reward Hacking, or avoiding “gaming of the reward function”. “For example, we don’t want this cleaning robot simply covering over messes with materials it can’t see through” the team wrote.…
