SfN Headquarters Awarded ENERGY STAR Status from EPA

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) recently awarded the Society for Neuroscience’s (SfN) headquarters in Washington, D.C., its coveted ENERGY STAR label.  These honors reflect the Society’s longstanding commitment to corporate responsibility and environmental stewardship, and its efforts to ensure its headquarters and operations reflect that commitment.  With this award, EPA has determined that the Society’s headquarters, which comprises three stories and 24,600 square feet of an 11-story office building, meets strict energy performance standards, uses less energy, costs less to operate, and creates fewer greenhouse gas emissions than three‐quarters of similar facilities nationwide.  Previously, the Society headquarters building also earned LEED Gold status, one of the highest honors for sustainable design.
