Screenplay written entirely by an Artificial Intelligence has been turned into bizarre short film

An Artificial Intelligence (AI) has been used to write the script of a sci-fi film for the very first time. Ross Goodwin, an AI researcher from New York University, teamed up with director Oscar Sharpe to produce Sunspring starring Thomas Middlemitch, better known as shy tech entrepreneur Richard Hendricks from HBO’s Silicon Valley. The screenplay was created by feeding a “recurrent neural network” (nicknamed Benjamin) with scores of science fiction film scripts – including Interstellar , Men In Black and The Matrix . From there, Benjamin was asked to create a short screenplay using a set of pointers from the Sci-Fi London Film Festival’s 48-hour challenge.
