Sanchez Earns Georgetown Internship

With school back in full swing for Cibola County’s students it’s easy to forget there are those who are getting back in swing elsewhere. This past Tuesday, Grants’ own Kathryn Sanchez began the last leg of a long journey, a highly sought after paid internship at Georgetown University. At the conclusion of which she will earn her doctorate.  The 22-year-old Sanchez graduated from Grants High School in 2011, and just earned her Bachelor’s degree in Biology from New Mexico State University this past spring. The Georgetown internship program gives her a chance to be a PhD candidate without having to get a Master’s Degree, and to possibly gain her PhD in around five years.  Sanchez had an interesting start on her path into the medical field.
