Postdoctoral Positions in Neuroscience

A highly competitive postdoctoral position is available at the University of New Mexico Health Sciences Center, Albuquerque, USA. The position is funded by grants from NIH/NINDS to study the molecular mechanisms underlying the role of hyperhomocysteinemia in the progression of ischemic brain damage. The ultimate goal is to translate these findings into novel treatments for cerebral ischemia and other age-associated neurological disorders. The research program provides opportunity to utilize a variety of in vitro and in vivo approaches, including molecular/cellular neurobiology, protein biochemistry, pharmacological methods, immunohistochemistry, small animal surgery (rat and mouse models of MCAO, implantation of micro-osmotic pumps etc.) non-invasive brain imaging using MRI, extensive behavioral studies, knockout and transgenic mice studies. Applicants must have a Ph.D. degree with a strong background in neuroscience and biochemistry. Expertise in tissue…
