We wish to analyse how excitatory and inhibitory synaptic interactions contribute to different forms of epileptic synchrony. We work on slices of human brain tissue obtained after operations on patients with intractable epilepsy syndromes (Nature Nsci, 2012). In organotypic culture, human tissue is transfected with diverse viral vector constructions (J Nsci Meth, 2014). Early epileptogenesis is studied in kainate-treated animals with a special interest in the role of lipids in hippocampal sclerosis (Eur J NSci, 2015).
