PhD in Synaptic Neuroscience

The position is embedded into research projects aimed at investigating synapse specificity and function in cortical circuits. The laboratory applies an integrative experimental approach combining optogenetics, electrophysiology and proteomics in in vitro and in vivo models of neurological disorders (autism and epilepsy). The PhD project will focus on developing novel genome-editing strategies for personalized medicine; the work of the successful applicant will include CRISPR/Cas9-based genome-editing technology, protein chemistry and stereotaxic surgery in rodents.The ideal candidate is a determined and creative individual with a master degree (or equivalent) in medicine, (bio)chemistry, molecular biology or similar. Previous experience in protein chemistry and a background in neuroscience/medicine are highly recommended.
