ProjectTransient receptor potential (TRP) ion channels are expressed in the brain, both in neurones and in astrocytes. We recently observed memory deficits in mice devoid of TRPC1, an isoform expressed in the CA1 region of the hippocampus. Synapses of this region present an altered plasticity (long term potentiation). The goals of the present grant proposal are:- To understand the role of TRPC1 in neurons and astrocytes functions, and the consequences on synaptic plasticity.- To decipher the gating mechanisms of TRPC1- To assess the role of astrocytes in synaptic plasticity and in memory (“Tripartite synapse”)CandidateWe are looking for a highly motivated candidate with team spirit and preferentially some exposure to neuroscience. The candidate should hold a master degree in biology or in medicine or equivalent, with a strong academic record.Experience in electrophysiology or…
