Nvidia GTC: VR, AI and auto take centre stage

SAN JOSE: NVIDIA HAS kicked off its annual GTC developer bunfight in San Jose, California with the usual mix of American showmanship and boffinry. In a dynamic opening keynote, Nvidia CEO Jen-Hsun Huang showed the crowd confirmation of firm’s acceleration in the direction towards artificial intelligence (AI), machine learning and virtual reality (VR). Huang unveiled an expanded SDK for the company’s products and confirmed that all three of these cutting-edge sectors will be catered for by the new SDK with dedicated libraries for automated cars, and a GPU Inference Engine capable of identifying images at the rate of 24 per second per watt.
