NINA, the intelligent computer

(ANSA) – Rome, November 18 – Artificial Intelligence (AI) researchers in Italy have come up with a computer capable of taking over from air traffic controllers when it perceives them as being too stressed on the job, sources said Wednesday.    The computer named Neurometrics INdicators for ATM, or NINA, will monitor the cognitive state of air traffic controllers through sensors measuring their brain electrical activity, eye movements, skin temperature, and other physical and neurological responses that speak to levels of stress, fatigue, and concentration, in real time.    Then, if they are in any way impaired, NINA should be able to come up with ways to help them.
