New Software Powered By Machine Learning Detects Nuclear Tests Like A Pro

Computer Scientist Erik Sudderth from Brown University has developed a machine learning system that can detect nuclear tests performed under or on the surface of the earth every single minute. Recently, North Korea tested their nuclear power where the output signals were captured by seismic monitoring systems of the Global Seismograph Network. The blast impact was huge and the generated signals were in no way masked by the North Korean Government. However, for clandestine tests of smaller devices performed by terrorists and non-member states of the Comprehensive Test Ban Treaty, there might arise problems.
