New big data system faster, more intuitive than humans

Researchers at MIT have developed a new data-crunching system, which recently beat out over 600 human teams in finding predictive patterns buried in unfamiliar data sets. And, perhaps more importantly, it accomplished this in a fraction of the time taken by humans working on the same task. Big data analysis is big business in the digital age. Masses and masses of information are being collected that take huge amounts of human intelligence, expertise, and time to make any sense of. Now, researchers at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) have developed a system they call the Data Science Machine,  which recently beat out over 600 human teams in finding predictive patterns buried in unfamiliar data sets.
