Neuroscientists believe that they can identify individuals using a map of brain regions, which “pair up” in brain activity scans, writes BBC News. The brain activity map is relatively stable, meaning researchers were able to pick out one person’s pattern from 126 other examples – matching it to another scan they had taken days prior. The researchers also found that they could match brain scans even if one was taken while the person was “at rest”, with minimal brain activity – and was undertaking a task in the other scan. The stability of the activity patterns led researchers to term it a “functional fingerprint”…
