Here is a look at what some Southlanders have achieved in college, according to releases from the schools: Western Illinois University Sheridan Proctor-Zenker, of Crete, has been selected for Western Illinois University’s Centennial Honors Scholarship, which awards $10,000 per year to academically high-achieving students. High school students with an ACT score of 30 or higher and a grade-point average of 3.0 or higher are eligible for the scholarship. “I selected Western because of its high ratings and various majors,” said Proctor-Zenker, a senior at Bloom Trail High School in Chicago Heights. “Students should consider Western because no matter what career they choose to pursue, Western has clubs and classes to support them.” Proctor-Zenker said she is undecided on a major at Western, which is in downstate Macomb.
