VentureBeats reports that The North Face, a clothing retailer, will soon launch a Watson-powered mobile app, which will give personalized suggestions to buyers. Shoppers can become involved in a real-time conversation with a super computer, to describe exactly what they want.This is not the first time IBM’s Watson, a computer capable of answering questions posed in natural language, has been used to save human time and effort. Watson has already been rendering services as a sommelier in the Wine4.Me app, efficiently addressing wine-related queries by users. However, as far as clothing retail goes, the questions could be very varied, and involve large categories which Watson will be required to filter, until it whittles down to the list that is most suitable.
