©Getty Had he lived for a few more days, Marvin Minsky would have learnt this week of the latest triumph in the field he helped to found 60 years ago. A computer beat a human champion at Go, the most intellectually complex of all board games, a decade sooner than most experts had predicted. Minsky, who has died aged 88, was a pioneer of artificial intelligence — a “towering giant”, in the words of Demis Hassabis, head of the London-based DeepMind team that developed the Go-playing computer for Google.
