That’s no accident. Since the mathematician and founding father of the programmable computer, Alan Turing, posited that computers would someday be able to replicate (and indeed become indistinguishable from) human intelligence, popular science fiction has represented AI as a field of scientific discovery that will ultimately supersede the dominance of Homo sapiens.
