Jerry S. Rawls College of Business Administration adds new master’s degree program

The Jerry S. Rawls College of Business Administration recently changed its Master’s in Information Technology to the Master’s in Data Science degree. Eric Walden, a professor at the College of Business and director of the Data Sciences Program, said the program previously had two tracks, technology and analytics, but now focuses on just data science. The college updated the program by changing some courses, Walden said, and made it into a one-year program. Data scientists need to be able to manipulate data and change formats, he said, and that also includes a statistical and business component. “Companies have been getting a lot more data recently and storing that data and they want to do something with it,” Walden said.
