Intel Corporation Buys Machine Learning Start-up Saffron To Push Artificial Intelligence

Intel Corporation (NASDAQ:INTC) is purchasing a machine learning start-up that makes a cognitive computing platform similar to IBM’s Watson Technology. Based in Cary, North Carolina, Saffron AI will become Intel Ventures effective on Monday, for an undisclosed fee, but will continue to operate as a standalone business.Saffron’s platform gathers data from several sources and creates connections between them to provide greater insight. The company has clients ranging from multiple industries, including Insurance, Healthcare and Manufacturing. The firms analytics solutions are expected to roll up into Intel’s Internet of things, big data and security push. Saffron has reportedly constructed a software that mimics human reasoning and memory by applying the problem of its clients and own natural language processing to augment client-defined vocabulary and industry jargon.
