HPE gives open source developers access to The Machine

HEWLETT PACKARD ENTERPRISE (HPE) has opened up The Machine, its next-generation project to reinvent the computer that doesn’t exist yet, to developers. The Machine initiative, which the firm claims will enable firms to analyse a trillion CRM records in a split second and  an entire data centre out of one box, was first announced at the HPEs’ Discover event two years ago, and sets out to reinvent the architecture of next-generation computers based on the concept of memory-driven computing using processors closely coupled with non-volatile memory (NVM). The project is still at a relatively early stage, but it is clear that The Machine will be sufficiently different from current systems as to require an entirely new software ecosystem to function, which is why HPE is opening its doors to developers at this…
