How to make money from storage trends

At the end of 2014 we identified two trends which we believed would shake up the storage industry in 2015 and eventually phase out IT SAN and NAS storage as we know it.  On the one hand, we expected an increasing number of small- and medium-sized organisations to turn to SaaS providers such as Microsoft Office 365, Salesforce and Box.com for their storage needs. As a result, resellers needed to be prepared for the fact that these organisations would not be buying much traditional storage in the future. Instead of propagating the SAN/NAS storage model, we encouraged them to adapt their offerings to the hyperscale, software-defined, hardware independent, shared nothing architecture model of Facebook, Amazon, and Google.
