Google’s machine learning system TensorFlow is now open

Google’s artificial intelligence engine is now open source. Google claims that the software can run on nearly any platform ranging from smartphones, single CPU systems, or even data center clusters. Computations for the system are performed in a data flow graph in which the nodes are mathematical operations and the edges are tensors, or multidimensional data arrays, that are exchanged between nodes. While performing these operations, the “neural networks” discover patterns and relationships as they absorb all the available information. Which brings me to the second reason the announcement is important: By making TensorFlow’s code open-source, Google is opening the door for companies and computer scientists around the world to implement cutting-edge machine-learning algorithms in their own products and research.
