Google Reveals Its New “RankBrain” Artificial Intelligence System

Now there’s a new, artificial intelligence-powered search technology that’s becoming increasingly important for Google: RankBrain. When Google-parent Alphabet Inc. reported eye-popping earnings last week its executives couldn’t stop talking up the company’s investments in machine learning and artificial intelligence. Rather than try to rely on traditional signals to interpret such queries, RankBrain takes the written language and converts it into mathematical entities known as vectors. RankBrain helps Google decipher the approximately 15% of phrases that the search engine has not encountered before, Bloomberg reports.…
