Google launches European machine learning research group

Google has announced the launch of a dedicated European machine learning research centre to be located at its Zurich office. In a blog post, the company said it had decided to expand the Zurich office – already Google’s largest engineering centre outside the US – due to the increasing importance of machine learning technologies to its development of tools and products. “Google’s ongoing research in Machine Intelligence is what powers many of the products being used by hundreds of millions of people a day – from Translate to Photo Search to Smart Reply for Inbox,” said the company in its blog.
