Global effort for brain science research

IMPROVED rehabilitation methods and reduction in deaths related to traumatic brain injury are among the possible outcomes of collaborative efforts with the International Neuroinformatics Coordinating Facility (INCF). “Traumatic brain injury is the fourth leading cause of death in Malaysia and contributes 11.37% of all Emergency Room cases in the country. It could be caused by road accidents or a fall. “If research outcomes are successful, it would benefit patients in terms of providing a better quality of life or even prolonging it,” said Universiti Teknologi Petronas (UTP) deputy vice-chancellor of academic affairs Prof Dr Ahmad Fadzil Mohd Hani.
