Ford Acquires SAIPS for Self-Driving Auto Plan (F)

Ford Motor Co. (F) has recently announced bold plans to offer a “high-volume, fully autonomous SAE level 4-capable vehicle in commercial operation in 2021 in a ride-hailing or ride-sharing service.” As part of this larger initiative, Ford CEO Mark Fields revealed in a press event on Tuesday that the auto giant has acquired Israeli-based tech company, SAIPS. Fields also announced a myriad of new deals and investments, including a partnership with Nirenberg Nueroscience, to bring more “humanlike intelligence” to machine learning components of driverless car systems.
