First Barcelona Data Science Meeting organized by Ramon Areces Foundation and Barcelona GSE

research April 2016 More than 280 academics and professionals participated in the inaugural edition of this event. On March 21-22, the Barcelona Graduate School of Economics and the Ramon Areces Foundation organized the first edition of the Barcelona Data Science Meeting. The scientific organizers were Professors José García-Montalvo (UPF and BGSE) and Omiros Papaspiliopoulos (ICREA-UPF and BGSE). The event was hosted by Universitat Pompeu Fabra at Ciutadella Campus. The Barcelona Data Science Meeting is a two-day conference exploring Data Science research and applications for business and institutions. The program included research presentations by top academics and expert panels with practitioners from Europe and the United States: Research from Columbia, IRB, MIT, and Telefónica The first day of the Meeting was dedicated to Research in Data Science.
