Facebook has long recognized faces in photos. Unless you’ve opted-out of the face-detecting technology, whenever someone uploads a photo of you, Facebook will suggest that your friend tag you, prompting more #engagement and amplifying the company’s already massive trove of user data. Now, Facebook is going beyond facial recognition on its app and website, by weaving its machine learning into your camera roll—it will analyze faces before they’re even uploaded to the social network.
