Facebook launches ‘M’
(NBC) – Facebook has launched its own personal assistant named “M”.
The new assistant is embedded within Facebook’s messenger app.
But “M” is different from Apple’s Siri and Windows’ Cortana –
Instead of a purely artificial intelligence model, Facebook’s “M” uses a hybrid of artificial intelligence and real people.
This means the new service will be able to do a vast number of tasks like book restaurants, or make travel arrangements.
Facebook is hoping that “M” will make the messenger app the go to place to get things done and look up information.
“M” is currently in a trial phase starting in the San Francisco bay area, but the company hopes to reach everyone over time.
