Developers Can Now Add Image Recognition To Their Apps With Google Cloud

Goole showed off the beta of its Cloud Vision API this week, allowing select developers an opportunity to run advanced image processing services that let applications intelligently handle pictures. It gave us a glimpse of its algorithms behind intelligent image recognition via Google Photos recently. With the Cloud Vision API, images are classified into thousands of categories in order to detect faces with associated emotions and to recognize printed words in various languages. Google just released a new machine vision tool for developers to help them build applications that can “understand” the content of images. “Seeing, a very hard computer problem, is solved with Cloud Vision”. “Advances in machine learning, powered by platforms like TensorFlow, have enabled models that can learn and predict the content of an image”, Ramanathan wrote.…
