Data science is changing careers, warns head of Google in Ireland

The head of Google in Ireland, Ronan Harris, has warned that the rise of data and analytical skills will require individuals to prepare for new working realities. Harris said that the notion of staying in one career for life is over and said that the five most in-demand jobs today didn’t exist 10 years ago. “Data science is at the core of what we do in Dublin,” Harris said. He indicated that the rise of data science will create a greater emphasis on computer science skills and said it was vital that these skills begin to be taught not solely at third level but also at primary and secondary level.
