Computer science professor makes MIT’s “35 Innovators Under 35” list

When Dr. Maithilee Kunda, associate professor of computer science and computer engineering, was in elementary school, she wanted to change the world and learn about humanity as a species. She especially liked to think about the U.S. space program, and even calculated how old she would be when the manned Mars missions were projected to occur in 2020. But when she got to college at MIT, Kunda was an aerospace engineering major for one day before deciding that outer space wasn’t actually her calling. She switched her major to computer science, and then again to math.
