Canadian machine-learning startup raises Series A

Waterloo, Ontario-based machine-learning company Maluuba announced it has raised C$9 million ($6.2 million) in a Series A funding round from Emerillon Capital, Nautilus Ventures and undisclosed strategic investors. The company has now raised C$12 million ($8.3 million) in total funding. As part of the round, Brian Kang, managing director of Nautilus, and Ludovic Andre, managing director of Emerillon, have joined the board.
